Hello all,

I was a regular reader of this board up until around 6 months ago when I made the mistake of trading in my P1 for a TVR Griffith. Due to "sharing" my TVR with the dealer over the past 6 months of ownership (over two months worth of time with the dealer!) I am quickly coming to the end of my patience.

The question is, having previously owned a P1 am I likely to be disappointed if I were to go for a WRX STi 300 Type UK (or whatever they are calling it!)?????

Cheers,

Kenneth

Hi Kenneth,

I've driven the new WRX (not the Sti 300 though) and found it disappointing in comparison with the P1. I don't know if the STi 300 is a better car but I would imagine you would find that a disappointment after the P1 as well.

I've got an 'old' STI with 290lbft and 300bhp, I also have a new 01 WRX. They are entirely different. I would think you would desperately miss the grunt the P1, never mind the TVR, offered.
On the other hand, the WRX handles very well.
For me, if I had to choose them, the MY01 WRX would be out on it;s ear in a flash. Even the PPP WRX lacks torque, unless you also do a full decat exhaust.

Is it the UK300 or the new STIv7 your thinking about? The UK300 doesn't feel that quick at all, but you can get several mods for it to up the bhp. The STI I've only driven in Jap import form and again doesn't feel as quick as the P1 at all (plus the UK one next year will be 27,500 & 260ish bhp) so slower on paper than the P1 as well.

There are still several P1's out there for the buying though (or did you have to buy new).

Good lad there Chuck.
I always knew U were sensible.. *lol*

To go from a P1, to a TVR..to a fugly...doesn't make sense.
Why not find a nice specimen of the "phatass" edition, aka 22b?

I think I'd go to the dark side before buying a fugly...too bad the 7 is just as ugly...maybe a low mileage mak?
...maybe a Skylark even?

Decision decisions.

For me it's alot easier - we don't get the fun versions at all here. So I had to make my own.

Thanks for the replies guys, I went for a closer look at the weekend and reckon that a STi 7 with a few mods (complete exhaust and possibly a Blitz filter) would be enough to keep me amused for a while.

I'm still in two minds about the lights as I vowed never to own one when the "new" look was first launched, but when you see a UK 300 sitting next to a P1, the P1 certainly looks a bit dated these days IMO.

Cheers,

Kenneth

The P1 was dated when it came out. Thats cos the old impreza is essentially a bit weak looking. The new one isnt so weak but as stated is fugly.

Get an evo 6! thats the way.
