Hi, I have a 95 UK spec turbo impreza and had noticed increased fuel consumption. I checked the ECU for fault codes and it showed code 23 (MAF sensor). I have replaced the MAF and reset the ECU which showed no codes at the time of reset but checking again later that day again showed code 23. Fuel consumption now seems close to normal. If I reset the ECU it shows no codes, but even if I stop the car straight after a reset and connect the two black wires to check the ECU memory it shows code 23 still. How can this be possible ECU reset and short run shows no codes, immediate connection of diagnostic wires shows code 23????? Anyone got any ideas.

try disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours and then try again, if you still get the code then there is a further issue
