Default More low down torque needed

95 WRX with HKS exhasut system and panel filter/dump valve, not mapped for any single type of fuel.

anyway to get more low down torque ?

playing with a few Fiesta RST they seem to have alot of low down speed, whereas i need alot longer stretch of road to get the power out

or should i of bought an RA etc with close ratio box etc.

not wanting to spend ££££ just wondering if any quick adjustments, wastegate fiddling etc ?

cheers

just keep em unequal length for the burble to stay, headers seem to make the sound deeper in my experience

Tubular headers will not aid in low down torque, were they come into there own is higher up the rev range.

After i fitted my HKS headers i noticed a difference only above 5/5.5k, and there really not necessary unless your after over 350bhp, and good set of ported headers on the other hand have proved to help spool and increase power at low engine speeds.

have your standard headers ported, and wrapped inclduing the uppipe ( should keep the gases warmer to speed up the flow) reducing lag by a few 110 rpm, therfore creating more low down torque as the turbo will boost faster

A TD04 will be a backwards step as will be tubular headers for what you want as the spool point will move noticably up the rev range.

What I would do and in the order I would do it would be :

1) If it is a Jap import, run on V-Power or some other super petrol and consider using NF. Reset the ECU. If it is a UK car then it should already be mapped to run on 95 RON but there may be a small advantage from running super petrol and doing a reset.

2) Open neck proven performance decatted down pipe. Preferably 3" but 2.5" OK.
3) Ported headers and matched up-pipe. These are good for beyond 450 bhp.

Low down torque and spool will improve as well as noticable improvements up the rev range.

I agree on the ported headers. I have tubular and my car is w4nk. Yes i admit it, i hate it! lol.
I went from TD04 and standard to VF34 and ceramic coated headers, and i bloody hate it.
Low down is so bad it is unreal.
And to top it all i have just been out playing with my Racelogic performance box, and the car is even slow as well! LOL.
On my long runway, i could only manage 5.2 secs 0 to 60 and the 13 secs for my other test, well, not impressed at all.
So, i already felt i was losing low down torque, and i kinda think my tests prove it.
Pretty good really considering the headers and coating cost me, well i aint putting it here, i am too embarassed how much it cost me.
Get some of Harvery's or API's ported OEM headers and you will have an awesome car.
Now, who wants to trade me? lol.
