oil pressure/temp readings
Hello all i recently fitted defi oil/pressure gauges, but im trying to find out what a classic impreza should run at so i can set my peaks on the gauges
my oil temp so far has hit 90 deg but i need to know what is a safe temp to run to ie on the track
and my oil pressure cold is roughly 6.0kpa (defi)
hot it idles at 2.0kpa (defi) then rises to 6.0-6.7 when im having fun.
all the help would be most welcome
regards
dave

I've just fitted a set of oil gauges myself. I've got oil temp warning set at 110 (this is for fully synth Motul) and oil pressure low warning set at 15psi (1bar) because mine idles at 25psi.

Same here - in preparation for a 'Ring trip in May, I've fitted oil temp and oil pressure. My old Clio 16v had them as standard and I don't mind being without them normally in the Scoob, but no way do I want to be on a circuit or a long autobahn pull without one eye on the oil.
I'm no expert on Shell Helix, but I don't think it's one of the top ranking fully sythetics like Motul, Silkolene, Millers etc, so tbh I'd set your warning at 100-110. This isn't to say you'll fry it as soon as you go 1 degree over, but it will just warn you to take it a little easier. I think very good quality synthetics like Motul 300v can run at up to 130 C, but just because they can, doesn't mean I'd want to get that close to the edge of their performance.
