Default Very high emissions!

Hi lads.
I am writing to you about a problem with my Type R MY99.
I am having trouble getting my car through DVLA because of high emissions! It is an original engine accept for the Apexi ECU.
The limit of emissions here in Sweden are 0.5 and mine is at 9. It is the CO level. I dont know if this is measured in the UK but you might have the solution to my problem anyway.
The engine runs with way to much petrol and my guess is that the problem is the O 2 sensor or the lambda, but Ive heard it could just aswell be the enginge oil.
It is an Apexi mapped by Andy F, so I really dont think thats where the problem lies.
Another small issue is that the hand commander seems to be locked and all it says is "Apexi" in the window. Is this some kind of screen saver and that you have to unlock it? If so, how can I do that to see the different levels?
Please help me solve these issues!
I hope I am writing in the right thread here...

Cheers lads!

Maf? Is that another word for O2 sensor? I already tried Andy F but I dont want to harrass him any more. The biggest problem now is the emission levels and if there is a setting in the commander (which I can not get in to due to the fact that it is locked) that shuts the lambda or O2 sensor of. Wouldnt know.

It is Mass Air Flow sensor which is near to the airfilter. Have you tried fuel injector cleanrer a cheap initial option

I'd go with the lambda sensor, had the same problem in mine last mot, changed sensor and was fine. The car seemed to be running ok aswell.

I had the same prob with mine and the apexi unit as well.Mine never locked on main screen tho did turn it self off maybe a fault with commander try unpluging it on the ecu and and pushing it back in maybe wire loose that happen to me before as well.
Back to mot mine fail on emission 5 per cent trying changing lamba senor made no different so I put the orignal ecu back in my car and passed. It red 0.7 per cent so try that.Import are allowed up to 3 per cent i beleive in the uk.
