Default Heat wrap, Ceramic coating or should I bother at all?

I have a Impreza WRX 96 Facelift. At the moment it's pretty much standard but come May It's having a load of goodies fitted.

Included in this little lot is a Hayward & scott decat down pipe and set of scooby sport equal lenght headers.

Now I'm giving thought to having them heat wrapped/laged or ceramic coated.

I had a 4x4 RS2000 a while ago and I had the cast manifold lagged and as a result it decided to crack and crumble on me.

I've been told that because the headers and down pipe I've got now, this won't happen as they are made from stainless steel. Is that true?

Then on the other hand I've got the worry that an amount of oil might find it's way onto the heat wrap and possibly cause a fire. Not what I want.

Is ceramic coating a good alternative?

I'm only going for around 330-350bhp. Does anyone have an idea how much it will cost to coat the down pipe and headers? or whom to go to to get it done?

Finally, do I need to bother in the first place? Will the heat reduction be that dramatic if I lag or coat, than if left unlagged or uncoated?

lagging it will be a good idea, it will speed up gas flow as well as improve thermal management

Well I've bought some lagging for the downpipe, but I'm giving real strong thought to ceramic coating the headers.

Thing is I've been told that the ceramic coating itself can crack and fall off after a while, surely this would be down to a poor job? rather than a common occurance for ceramic coating.

Anyone had ceramic coating done and had any problems with it???

The exhaust system on our STi is coated, by the same company that treat many professional race teams components, and I can touch it after a good blast. It's also been on for around 30k with no signs of failure anywhere.
Any new parts coated with a lead time of around 1 week, it's not the cheapest option but will outlast most alternatives.

DEI wrapping will last, the cheaper wrap you see advertised will not and IMHO is not worth the money.

Got mine coated when i bought em from Tracktive. I am not sure who Tracktive get to do their ceramic coating but it was not cheap. To say i went over the top, is an understatement! LOL.
I just got carried away i did.
