Unhappy Why is my scooby smoking

Have an MY99 with 97k on the clock.

A few months ago I noticed that white smoke was coming out of the back after being stationery for a while. The smoke disapeared under acceleration.

Took it into the garage [Subaru] and they couldn't get it to smoke [typical ] but said that the MAF was kaputt and it had been overfueling. They then went on to say that this may have washed away carbon deposits in the engine leading to the smoking .... can't see that myself. They then went onto say that it should rectify after about a 1000 miles of driving.

Well 1500 miles later it still bloody smokes........now this is the the thing I can't understand

It only smokes when the engine is warming up. If I've been out for a blat then no problems.

Has anyone had a similar experience or knows what the answer may be.

Cheers

Roo

If it only does it when warming up, and the smoke is white then I wouldn't worry. I think pretty much all cars do this, especially in the cold weather.

This is something which is exacerbated by stainless steel exhausts and decats.

Cheers guys

Gonna go for a spin at the weekend.

Though I have a decat and stainless exhaust it has only recently started doing it. The first was at the Goodwood Festival.

It does seem like condensation as it to cloudy and puff out when the throttle is fettled.

The guys at the garage said because it was white there shouldn't be anything to worry about and it had only used 1/2 litre of oil in 7500 miles [at 97k I think that's pretty good].

Cheers
