yes you will get a performance increase and yes it will be noticeable. IMO P'drive sports cats or other sports cats are worth it as they will give you peace of mind come MOT time.

Word of caution - if you fit a sports cat I would recommend a remap to firstly prevent any issues of overboosting and of course to derive full benefit from the increased gas flow in the downpipe

how much is a remap likely to cost, and is it necessary?
some fully decatted cars run without a remap dont they? im confused
also, would removing second cat be worthwhile to go with highflo?

the overboosting probs tend to occur in the STI, the WRX seem to be ok without remap, but as said to get full benefit you should get it mapped after

TBH, the best person to tell you that will be the guy mapping the car as all have different views.

Welcome to the slippery slope

with sports cat and exhaust you should see around 330 bhp with a remap and simular torque

you need to change you fuel pump, to a uprated one as a safety precauton cost you £80 mark and may be a panel filter £35 mark

yhm !

figures are based on cars with same mods. I've just fitted prodrive sports cat to MY01 WRX, with panel filter, fuel pump and a remap. It's making around 290, so STi will easily do 330 with same mods. Remove the second cat when you fit the prodrive downpipe.

There's actually 2 mapping 'technologies' available for your ecu. Ecutek which is the most common (and what I have) and OpenECU. Ecutek requires a license, so the first map will be around 600 and this includes the license fee. OpenECU is 'open' so no license required, so you are only paying for the mappers time at around 300 or so. More mappers use Ecutek and I'm sure you will find one on here who's recommended in your area. Subsequent Ecutek maps are time only and make sure the mapper leaves some 'headroom' in your first map for future mods you may make.

As you may have guessed, I'm not a mapper lol so ask/read around about remapping. You wont be disappointed though. It's not just the figures, although they are nice pub talk, it's the improved drive you get. Much smoother response, better mid range torque for overtaking without shifting down a gear and car just feels more responsive, its an impressive difference.
