As you all know the Subaru 2 pots are ****e. I can't believe Scubaru fitted them, total B*ll*ocks.

Is there an alternative to purchasing the expensive 4 pots?

 

Not really imo i tried uprated pads which on my car did f**k all.
i bought my calipers for £200 standard discs and black diamond pads for about another £100 and i know have a car that brakes when i want it to.

i couldn't agree more m8, the 2 pots are un-safe! I got a 2nd hand set of brembos and discs off eBay for 375, best mod i've made so far. Stops on a penny in the dry and never fades...

ideally the bigger the disc the better, make sure your abs works cos in the wet it skids easy if you hammer the brakes...

 

Don't know what year you've got but check that any brake mods fit under the wheels you have.
I had 16" wheels (on a 93wrx) and they scraped the calipers because of the spoke design.

 

A decent set of pads for 2 pots can cost £100 just for the front pads.
I've just bought some 4 pots if you watch ebay or better still wait til someone is breaking a car with 4 pots fitted then you might get them even cheaper.

 

Okay.... So basically, no then. What about drilled or grooved disc's, any good, would I be wasting my time?

 

Personally I don't think you'll benefit from disc's alone, your money would be better spent on pads/calipers.

 

That was easy.. Best get saving some pennies before I end up in a hedge!

Don't worry..... I have been. Its not very comforting to press the brake pedal and not to stop. I am bemused at how bad they actually are. Generally I'm not a speedy driver but I have recently chipped up, I'm guessing at around 280 so wanted to open her up. Twas a shock. Obviously I have read various threads here about the brakes on the early classic but didn't think they'd be as bad as that at higher speeds. Dog ****e.

 

What about Legacy calipers, what spec are they and would they fit?

 

Think there two pot slinding calipers mate, I know on my Leggy Twin Turbo they are.

Stupid really because it heavier then an Impreza and has twin-turbo's suppose to have a top speed of 160mph odd yet has the same **** brakes.

Got some 4-pots coming for my Impreza soon, seems like the most sensible choice and not too expensive in terms of safety.
