Question FMIC's

Been looking to fit a FMIC to my Classic (99) and have noticed some come with Hard Pipes..What's the main differences with this apart from being harder to fit (if they are)?

Cheers.

Most come with hard pipes. There are only a few that come with all silicone pipes. I wouldn't worry too much about it. People run both sorts without problems.

Cheers for the reply mate,

Just wondered if the Silicone ones were better or not for air flow .

The metal pipes (usually anodised aluminium) will not change shape when the boost is high, ie 1.6 bar.
The silicon pipes will change shape like a balloon (relativly speaking) and the turbo has to push more air into the pipes to achieve the same boost pressure.
This will show in a small increase in spool-up (lag) of the turbo.
Probably not worth fretting over.

Nice one! I'm hoping to be near the 500's shortly. I have been running a project on it for a while but financial constraints have stalled its progress for the time being a good read none the less.

Where did you get yours for 235? It's an Autobahn 88? There seem to be plenty of ebay cheapies around at the moment, but looking at the Autobahn 88 ones, they at least have a website and it shows how they make them etc. Plus I've got an Autobahn88 turbo inlet pipe and I'm very happy with it.

I know there are some cheap replica Hybrid copies about at tempting prices, but so many have Hybrids over the years I've read on here i went for one from Harvey.
I have no idea about the Autobahn88, just the hybrid.

got mine ages ago at that price and was lucky to get it at all
right dodgy geezer i got it off , took 10 weeks to come.

i've got the 88 inlet hose as well , , heard bad things about them but i'm braving it , only done 450 miles so far on new build and all seems ok , Bob Rawle says its all ok so that's good enough for me
