Default GC8 to GF8 ????

As I know next to sod all about turbo's, ecu's and mapping etc etc, I'm hoping one of you techie folks might be able to shed some light on something for me. I've been offered a choice of engines, one from a CG8 (same as mine but with 100,000 plus on the clock) or one from a GF8 (40,000 on the clock). What would I have to do to stick the GF in place of my GC ? The GF doesn't have the turbo attached so would my TD05 fit etc etc ?
Regards.
Chris.

Yep absolutely nothing. Just bolt your turbo on.

What about the ecu ? I read somewhere that they have a different ecu or something.

I'm fairly sure the wiring loom at the ecu end is different for both cars, however if all the sensors are the same then the gf8 should drop in and connect up the sensors and it'll run on your ecu.

Someone else will have a better idea and will be along soon...

PS dont go ahead until someone else more clued up arrives as i dont know if there are fundamental differences in the fuelling and timing of the two engines, if there are you would likely need the ecu and loom.

The wiring loom is the same (at the ECU end) for GF8 and GC8 variants. The engines arent the same though, they have different engine codes, although theres no reason that you cant use one with the correct ECU.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Just to clarify for my own peace of mind cos I'm old and daft, the engine will go in but I need the loom and ECU from the GF8 ? Can I use my TD05 or do I need the turbo from the GF8 also as the bloke I'm getting the engine from says he's already got a buyer for the turbo.

Regards.

Confused in Leeds !

Excuse me!?!?!?!?

I wish people wouldnt take things so personally on here. I am a nice guy and was trying to help. What i meant was "someone more clued up than me will be along to answer about the ecu". Seen as no-one had answered his question about the ecu part.
