wrx ecu into uk turbo
hi, im new to this site, but i have a classic 1998 uk turbo saloon, only moded with exhaust and d/v
i was hoping to gain a bit of power by switching ecu's over
anyhow, when i bought a 1998 wrx ecu off an import
the numbers are 22611 ae380
a 18- 000 d67
the fuel pump wouldnt come on, thought there might be a few wires to swithch over with it being import, or is it not possible to run import ecu's on uk turbo's?

there is a few reasons why it won't run and a few reasons why you shouldn't make it run..
starting with the main reasons why you shouldn't run it...
the turbo is different, the wrx is mapped for 100ron jap fuel..
the reason it won't run it is that they swapped the crank and cam sensors pin connections over to stop you doing it because of the reasons why you shouldn't run it.
Also the immobiliser connection to the fuel pump needs moving.
If you were to fit the correct VF turbo and swap the wires it should run but would be worth checking it for det / fuelling as the cams may and may not be different.. the 97~98 cams are reasonably nice profile and duration on the UK and the WRX but never compared the two side by side to see if they are different.
Without changing the turbo you are likely to lose power.. running an ecu map for a larger turbo on an engine fitted with a smaller TD04 turbo.

I could be accused of being biased..
ported headers
remap on the standard turbo..
or remap on a VF or TD05 turbo + walbro fuel pump
Using an Apexi PFC for a remap is very good value for money.. the Link G3 is looking very good too..
You can obviously go further and further..
front mount intercooler
induction kit
injectors
fuel pump
headers
bigger turbo
All depends on budget and what you want from the car.

Hi m8,
I would be very grateful if you could tell me if you still have the ecu you say you bought for a 1998 wrx import?
If so, is there any chance i could buy it from you as mine has got problems?
And what code is on the 1998 wrx ecu?
Thanks
Dan.
