Default intercooler advice please

so far on my 95 wrx i have an exhaust system and k&n filter, im not looking for crazy power but just wondering what you would reccomend next.

i was thinking of fitting a bigger intercooler from a later scoob, im not sure whats best so if anyone has a guide that would be great.
i was also gonna fit a chip, something like scooby chip?

any advice would be appreciated

not done this myself but there are quite a few threads on here re fitting larger intercoolers to the earlier models including fitment of the STi intercoolers from a V7 onwards.
Fitting a WRX intercooler from a new age would be a worthwhile upgrade and much cheaper than the STi route.
Do a search and all will be revealed

Front Mount intercoolers are really affordable these days, have you not considered one of these. They are now around £195 delivered.

I agree, I've gone for an STI 03 intercooler, it wasn't too hard to fit to MY99, i think it is a bit harder to fit to a MY95, have a look in the projects section as someone may have already done it.

read the article in this monthy Jap Performance magazine, it's a really good article and should answer a lot of your questions, they have basically done a number of runs on a dyno to see which is best so what they say is fully backed up...

As someone else has already stated the test was done at Scoobyclinic, using an intercooler they sell, on their dyno for a magazine they advertise in!

Call me cynical if you like.

Also the Type 25 runs 415 bhp through the STI top mount, if it works on a car like that it's fine for me.

Also for non crazy power cars the increase in lag from a front mount may not be beneficial.

well ive fitted a version 5/6 wrx intercooler with sti y pipe and its gave exellent results.
apart from it pulling better (did have a boot leak)
it has a much louder induction note and you can really hear the turbo spinning up.
wasnt really expecting any changes in sound but im very pleased with results for the price i paid.

this is the guide i used
