Default Loud exausts on the outside, quiet on the inside...

Is there anyway of cutting the volume of a meaty exaust down for people in the car??!!

You know if you fancy some katie melua on the radio but can't hear it!!

(maybe i should just get a better stereo!!)

Is there any ways to soften the throatyness of the exaust within the car though??

Cheers, John

SUBARU = LOUD EXHAUST!!!!

If you want to listen to the stereo and not the sweet rumble of your exhaust, then either switch off your engine or get an Escort or something !!
I often turn my stereo off to listen to my car burble along...it reminds me that I am lucky enough to own and drive a fab car !!

(Sorry that was no help at all was it really !!)

haha, nah i totally agree!! I do often take the route with the most motorway bridges or tunnels to drive through!!!

Just when you drive 200 miles ont he motorway at a speed that your exaust makes your bird *** with the vibrations, and makes my ears fall off, maybe a tiny bit quieter would sometimes be nice!!!!

katie melua needs to be heard sometimes though!!! she is a goddess!

(i had an escort before my focus )

Why not get some real ICE fitted? I have a basic 12" sub and amp fitted (as well as normal standard speakers) and if I want to listen to a good tune, I just turn up the volumn!!!!

Is there a - loud but not too loud so as it is anti social - exhuast? I like the sound but i live at the back of an estate and leave for work early so I'd like an exhaust i can hear but i'd also like one that isn't going to put the neighbours windows out first thing in a morning.

Is there a decent compromise?

I had almost 2k of cerwin vega speakers, directed amps and planet audio sub's, but sold it all a couple of years ago. Sounded unreal, so clear and obviously it had the volume, but most days my seats are down, with either bikes, or fishing gear in (hence me owning a wagon). I don't want or need all that anymore as i'll rarely have it all in.

God designed Katie Melua to be looked at, not listened to !

Ditto re not needing a stereo in the Scoob ( ), but if you want quiet, go for the £300 Revolution exhaust, or spend that money on a louder stereo !

A few years back I put a full scoobysport system, including downpipe, on a classic i had. I ended up selling the car. I like the sound of engine also but on a long m-way run it was unbearable & could be abit embarressing if trying to talk to a bird ya tryin' to get to know. "SO THEN !WHERE SHALL WE GO FOR A MEAL!!!" lol

thanks.

i think legally it is anything over 108db is illegal. I have a bike and the exhaust to be needs and under that noise limit to get a British Standard kite mark and be legal.

Cars have got away with it for years where bikers have been stung because the exhaust on a bike is easy to check. Not many coppers want to crawl under a car to check a exhaust for a kite mark.

However, warning to Scots at least i know edinburgh and falkirk councils are looking at issuing environmental wardens and possibly police with decibel meters because of all the crooozers keeping kids awake at night by driving round and round in circles at silly o clock in the morning.

Cheers. Think I should be ok - Prodrive b/b, H & S decat centre, non resonated. Not too loud, but nice'n'burbly ! They'll no doubt catch the lad that lives up the street with the drainpipe running down the centre of his Cinquento (sp) !!
