What forged pistons, Wiseco or Mahle?.
What are the better forged piston to use with a EJ25T engine. I have been advise to use Mahle pistons instead of Wiseco. I have always though Wiseco were one of the better manufactures so opted to purchase these when the time came for upgrading my STi pistons. But I have been told Wiseco pistons are noisy and rattle on intial start up when the engine is cold and fine once the engine is at temperature. Mahle pistons are quieter so I've been advised to purchase these instead. Has anyone found Wiseco pistons to be noisy or had any other experiences with using either of these pistons.

Wouldnt have thought you would be able to hear pistons 'rattle'?? The only reason i can think of for this would be having the pistons 'slack' in the bores and once heated up they will expand. Normally the case on all out racing engines to reduce friction. Not a good thing for a road car, especially since the engine would need rebuilt every few thousand miles.
Got a set of Mahle powerpack pistons myself but the engines not together so no real experience. Went for these only due to a set being available for a very friendly price. Would have gone for Lateral Perfromace ones instead if i hadnt as they are custom for 2.5's requiring no head mods. Worth a phonecall to Mark at LP to have a chat about it.
