There are quite a few cars on standard internals running 400bhp+ so it will be easy to run that BHP on a built/uprated internal engine. I suggest using either the MD-321 Turbo from Lateral Performance or the GT35/p20 Hybrid from Roger Clark Motorsport to get you safely over the 400bhp mark.

STI 3 Heads would be a good choice. 550cc injectors should also be capable for that power, also a SX FPR and an uprated Fuel Pump. Pending what year car you have there could be potential gearbox issues with over 400lbs torque. What base car are you using?

TD06-49 is a 400bhp turbo also. Worth a look.

Make sure you use quality big end bearings (ACL Race or similar) and fit an RCM modified oil pump when rebuilding. Parallel fuel rail mod and a baffled sump would be a good idea too.

Speak to Mark at Lateral Performance and he'll sort out the very best prices for you - top guy too

A normal fuel line is configured so that the injectors are fed in series - ie looking at the engine frm the front of the car, the 1st injector to be fed with fuel is at the rear right hand side, then front right, then the fuel line travels across the engine to the front left injector then finally the rear left injector (closest to the turbo = hot area) before returning to the fuel tank.

So in this situation and under very high fuel load - ie when gunning it at high boost level - this system has its flaws. If the fuel demand is so high that the 1st 3 injectors swallow so much fuel that there isn't enough to feed the final one, then there could be a lack of fuel entering that cylinder (No3) and a lack of fuel means running lean which can cause major pre-detonation and big end bearing failure or piston ring failure could occur.

So to ovecome this a parallel fuel rail set up is used - this way fuel is fed equally into all 4 cylinders at the same time - ie a true parallel setup.

Do some searching on SN for parallel fuel rails as I'm sure it will be mentioned on here a lot. This is definately worth doing in your current situation and looking for 420bhp from a 2 litre engine

If you still have the orginal gearbox fitted and you end up with around 400/370 then the first time you floor it from a standing start you'll destroy the box. The early boxes are the weakest of them all and will need changing for your power goal.

And a 'built' gearbox = a 'built' engine in cost..

About as much as your misguided drivel.

I take it your statement wasn't based on any experience of running a car at these power levels?

I have run in road and serious competition a 380 x 370 2 litre on a stock Sti V3 trans but with very sticky tyres and after 120 drag starts, 8000 road miles, not a murmur from the box. (AP organic clutch)

I think this explains RoRu's comment.

A lot is down to how you drive 'em!
