Default Disconnecting battery

I'm trying to disconnect the battery on my 2003 WRX, but whenever I disconnect the negative terminal, the factory alarm goes off.

I phoned Subaru, they said, lock/unlock then open the door, that will deactivate alarm - wrong!! still goes off!!

Anyone got any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong???

How quickly after you reset the alarm (by locking/unlocking the car with the fob) are you disconnecting the battery? with mine it has to be within about 30secs.

Cheers

Just leave the siren sounding it for 30seconds, it'll reset on its own.

Cheers Guys, I disconnect battery within about 10 secs from unlocking the door. I'll let it blast for 30 seconds and see if it goes off
