Default ext (EGT?) gauge etc.

hi folks...this is my first post, so HI! good to meet you all!

anyhoo,
Ive just bought a 95 WRX which was imported last year.
everything seems champion - though its a bit tatty: there is an EXT gauge (which I assume is an Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge)
its connected to a Greddy control box - of some description - hiding behind the dash (small white box with the metal braided sensor cable to one connector and a number of other wires to another connector

The braided cable ends in a connector...but isnt connected to anything.
It appears to be the same connector as that already used to a 'boost control valve' thingee (small black Denso box) sitting next to the air filter assy area

can anyone help with where this connector should go (I guess I need to look closer to see if theres a sensor in the zorst pipe somewhere, eh?)
...and what is the Greddy box of tricks for?

many thanks (and apologies for the vagueness of the description)

Have you had a look on the Greddy website?
Are there any mods (other than the ones mentioned) done to the car?

thanks for the response:
not sure what mods have been done!
its got an Apexi commander fitted......a 'performance' MS air filter assy, supposedly a bigger turbo (tho it looks standard) and a Blitz BOV....oh and a big zorst (back box only by the looks of it)

The Greddy site didnt have any pics of the box, Ive got...I'm assuming its a 'gauge control box' which they list

there doesnt appear to be any sensors in the zorst apart from one on the pipe underneath the engine which is conencted to 'summat' on the top of the air filter assembly

how helpful was THAT!
(I'm waiting for a maintenance manual to turn up from Ebay, which 'lll help....I hope, as currently I know nowt about what is where and what is standard)

If its got the commander then you've got the Power Fc (obviously) plus in the piccy you've got the apexi boost control.
Does the gauge work?(silly question perhaps).
The turbo should have a plate on it identifying it (possibly TD05 but don't quote me)

theres no plate that I can see.....H2 and 673(?) cast into the blower tho
piccie below

...and no the gauge (EXT) doesnt work...other than for the warning red LED to flash constantly

so am I right in thinking that the Apexi is simliar to the "Power Commander" on bikes, in that I can map ignition and fuelling thru the rev range/throttle openings...AND adjust the boost?....all from the hand held display mounted on the dash?

wot I really need is for a WRX boffin to come over and have a look I guess

Power Fc is a replacement and remappable ecu (plenty of people remap them) most connect a laptop to change the settings go to Apex'i for more info.
I'll take a wild guess that the greddy item is meant to be connected to the gauge or the exhaust (whichever one its not connected to) if unsure take it to a scooby specialist and get it fixed or removed.
If you post a your general location people could point you in the direction of as GOOD specialist
