Put it on lightly damp but not wet if it is the brown type like DEI or Thermotec.
Goes on dry with the white stuff.

Do a search on heat wrap in this forum, pleanty of info on the subject already

i.e.
https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...ight=heat+wrap

I can echo the bit about gloves and long sleeves. I bought a pipe already wrapped, just unpacking and holding it my arms were itching !

Rally Design and Exhaust Wrap Shop are good sources for the wrap, ties or lockwire that you'll need.

I bought mine off eBay and wrapped it wet, which was much easier than dry and enabled me to wrap it tighter.

Can you wrap the up-pipe without removing it? i.e. if it was on a lift or from the engine bay? I think my headers have the factory heatshields on them, can you just wrap over the heat shields or should i just leave them??

cheers

EDIT have just ordered some off the bay, 12.50 for 26feet of 2" wrap, hopefully will be enough to do the up pipe and downpipe...

Beware eBay wrap. Remember how hot everything gets. Have heard of some wrap off ebay catching fire.

Check its flammability with a lighter / match before putting it on your exhaust.

I heard that happend a few times aswell. There was no way I was going to chance it so I used DEI which was very easy to use and fairly well proven not to go on fire.

It was tough enough for me wrapping it all off the car never mind on the car lol. Id be suprised if you can get it done well while its on the car. Im sure its been done or someone else might have some tips to do it that way.
