Default Bigger Turbo Without Remap??

Hello,

Just pondering something this morning, i'm fitting a dawes soon to try and help spool and torque midrange, i'll be setting the boost as per the electronic controller is now (1.1 bar). Now given that the stock turbo (td04 i think) runs out of puff high revs, could i put a vf34 on without a remap, purely because the boost level will still be capped at 1.1?? Or will it run lean at high revs with the extra that the vf will push?

ps got a walbro coming to be fitted to help high rev fuelling...

Cheers
Nicky

would run lean i would think as although boost might be capped it will still push more air through the motor as its a bigger turbo unit, and that wont be compensated by the standard fuel map...... walbro will only help by giving a constant fuel pressure at higher revs where the tired standard unit might struggle...... i know its tempting to cut corners to save some money, but in the long run it is cheaper to have everything set up correctly and mapped for all the changes.

Not a good idea changing turbo without altering fueling, different turbo will have different ve (amount of air), so even if boost pressure the same actuall amount of air will be different.

Plus you may need ignition adjustment as you may run into higher cyl temps, possibly causing det.

Sounds like you need to look at a package of bits and get one of the expert mappers on here to map your ecu.

Also fuel pump change wont give you any more fuel, unless you change pressure and or duty cycle of injectors.

Hope this helps Jase.

You'll need a remap.
