Question fuel guage

fuel guage dropped to empty on way home from work,left it overnight when i got in it in the morning was showing a quarter of a tank half way to work again droppedto empty. any ideas ? cheers mark

As far as I understand, the fuel gauges on these aren't the most acurate of items... (Ford ones do all sorts of things to the levels when you turn the ignition off too...)

Could just be a case of the fuel moving around in the tank registered a lower level so the needle dropped but didn't register a higher one long enough for the needle to rise again.

Hope you get what I mean
