thermostat gone
i just drove home and there was smoke coming from the engine , my partner said its the thermostat coz the tempreture is so high and the heating isnt working anyone got any idears on where its located and is it easy to get to? if so any1 got any pictures please , asap .p.s its for a wrx turbo import 00

Have to say if the thermostat had gone there would be no heat and cold on tempreture gauge. does sound more like no water in the radiator ie cracked radiator

found problem when i got the car the guy said it was serviced, but it wasnt had no antifreeze and never had air filter changed and to top it off i didnt know there was next to no water in the intercooler bit and the dip stick omg it was like tar. got it sorted now getting it serviced before anything else goes wrong

Yup, sounds like a nail potentially turning into a money pit Servicing it won't cure any past neglect - engine wear and damage is cumlative, and not cureable without a total rebuild. It's a gamble, as you obviously don't know what the car has previously been through, so just take this advice as a worst case scienario.
Seriously, I'm sorry if this sounds a bit told you so, and I know its not a girly thing to do. But checking basic stuff like oil/water levels and tyre pressure should be done on a fortnightly basis, and the condition of the oil should have been looked at when it was purchased.

sorted
changed oil radiator turned out fine, nothing wrong thank god. put performance oil in and new oil filter in and now it runs like a dream. so now im looking for a burble for me scooby,
anyone got a cheapish one? i will pay upto £100.and as im a girly i will be looking for reasonal offers for it and also some clear indecator lights, got sti body kit on it already so im looking to make me scooby a beast lol !!!!!!!
