Default Confused!!!!

Hi all, I have a 94(L) 2000 turbo awd wagon. The fuel pump has died taking the immobliser with it. Subaru want £287+ vat for the pump but i could take up to 6 weeks to arrive. So they can forget it! Car transplants in cheshire have a few second hand one but they dont match the part number subaru gave me. Does this matter(Will any others fit). Secondly the garage my car is at says the tank needs to come off to fit the pump but ive been lead to belive it can be done from the top? By the way i want to fit a standard pump. All replies greatly appriceated as i realy need to sort this today, as im driving my sisters 1l polo

Try phoning alyn (as performance) for advice on 0191 410 3770 as he seems to know part numbers of fuel pumps off the top of his head and will probably have something with you next day if poss

you can fit them without removing the tank.. 30minute to an hour job.

find it unlikely the pump would damage the immobiliser..

I changed my fuel pump the other day took about half an hour. You can get to it by unscrewing a plate in the boot.

Is it definately the fuel pump becasue mine suffers from a sticky fuel pump relay now and again. All i do is tap it and it works.

2 things. Remove your car from the garage that it is at. They either don't know what they are doing, or they are trying to rip you off. Secondly, try some of the scoob specialists you can get a walbro for about £90 which is uprated and readily available

Ive now spoke to as peformance they were very helpful and clearly new what they were talking about, they are sending me one tomorrow. I was very gratefull for your help bob but after reading several posts on here i decided against the uprated walbro as i have no intention of modding car in any way. and dont want the expence of and uprated fpr and possible remap if my car doesnt suit it. As for the garage the car is at i dont think they have done much with impretzas but iu have let them know of inspection hatch in the boot and now they will fit it that way. As for immobliser i didn,t think the fuel pump dying would have killed it either but hey ho just want my bloody car back . Thanks for all your help it is much appriecated!

I can't imagine that the pump and immobiliser would die together either. Sounds like the garage is covering all eventualities. Its quite easy to briefly power a suspect pump up outside of the car to see if its working by supplying a feed and earth to the correct terminals.
