Default Various technical issues Classic

Hi all . I have a 96 classic (pre-facelift) I have put in the Z4 ecu and a brand new bailey dump valve (D-spring) but have a problem at high revs. It seems to loose all power at about 5500 rpm in 4th and 5th like theres no fuel. Does the z4 ecu have the japanese speed limiter built into it or could it be the dump valve letting off the pressure. I have sent it back to bailey and they say its been upgraded to the stronger spring but i still have the same problem.
Not that i go that fast often (erm honest lol) but it seems to happen at about 120 on the clock. Any help on this would be much appreciated Gav

OH S**T!! thought i was improving it. Didnt realise it was limited! In that case wots the cheapest and best way to remove limiter.Go for the daughter board or can it be remapped without chipping it plus i have plans to fit td05 turbo and fmic, should i do that then get the ecu done Thx Gav

Is it a UK car that you've fitted the Z4 into??

If it isnt then it should have a TD05 AFAIK

and the Z4 is meant to be used with a TD05 AFAIK

Default tech issue

no mate its a standardish uk spec wagon ...sold the 7d(which had for plug for chipping...doh) and bought the z4 still on td04 but noticed at about 120 on clock possibly 112mph (jap) seemed like fuel cut off so wondered if ecu is limited jap spec. do you think it might be turbo not up to job if its meant for td05???
dun bit of homework but obviously not enough ...am planning td05 with fmic but xmas getting in the way lol.. be happy with about 280-300bhp so advice would be appreciated.
ps is uk wagon used daily for work...hay why not ..spent most of day in it so why not make it fun.....fuel bill bit of a fukcer though lol.....MORE FUN THE BETTER ...HE HE(fastest washing machine repair man in essex lol)

HELP!!! all this is doing my head in.........

plus...curiosity...has anyone had a cambelt tensioner bolt snap (luckily at low revs...no valve bend...surprised...so was I)

Thx Gav

An ESL chip will sort most of your problems out.

A UK Spec wagon pre - 96 will have a TD05H-16G as standard unless it has been changed. To run an FMIC with an 'additional board' fitted you will need a custom map as the boost control is likely to cause problems due to the extra volume of the pipework & intercooler - plus it would get the best from the far superior cooling. Another option would be a standalone ecu like an Apexi PFC
