Thinking of getting a front mount
Hi guys, thinking of buying a front mount intercooler, but was just wondering if I'd be safe to fit it and run without a remap for a while, or whether this would have any adverse effects.I realise that I would have more turbo lag, but I don't want to do it if it means the dreaded det' etc. You're input and knowledge would be much appreciated.

I've been told differently, as I fancy a FMIC, but havent got a remapp, but do intend to get one after the new year. So that would be a coouple of months running with a fmic but without a remapp.

But if I'm just changing the intercooler I'm not actually increasing boost levels am I? Or am I missing something. The only thing I can see is that the air will be colder and therefore have greater density, will this lead to det?

Fitting a FMIC in place of a top mount will radically alter the breathing characteristics of your engine and hence fuelling.
This is nothing to do with increasing boost.
FMIC + no remap + lots of WOT = Good chance of goosed engine.
At the very least you need to get someone to run your car on the road and check out AFRs with a wide band lambda.
