Default ATT: import owners - fuel question

I have just bought a 95 WRX import, that as far as i know has not been remapped to run on uk fuel, my question is how much octane booster are you running? I use Silkolene Octane Booster in my MX bikes but don't know what ratio to run in the car.
Any help greatfully received

Well ive had a 95 import for the last 3half years , and as far as i aware the ecu in the my95 is a z4 ecu which is as close as a uk type as your likely to get , personally ive ran mine on optimax without any o/b , so cant really answer that question , but i think the best thing for you to do would be to replace the ecu with a mappable type ,which will also give you more safe er power ,which i,m thinking of doing meself, but after a £2.300 engine rebuild ,im abit low on cash at the moment , as youve guessed there are expensive when they go wrong

If you have a z4 ecu it should be happy on V-Power or Tesco super (99ron), i have a a z4 ecu in my 93wrx and just run it on the above fuel and its fine.
But if you do use octane booster it normally says the ratio of OB to fuel on the bottle.

passenger footwell, pull back the carpet, take the plate off and underneath is the ecu and right in the middle will be a letter/number (e.g. U8, W6 etc)
You will most probably have one saying Z4

my93 on u8 ecu quite often ran on morrisons 95 unleaded with some hard driving with only green on the knocklink.

If you do change your fuel on the earlier cars, then reset the ecu after you have done it as if you use poor fuel the oe knock sensor will knock back the ignition timing therefore losing you some power and Iam sure that it doesnt advance it again like the newer cars.

It doesnt knock it back as well either
95 ron WILL kill a wrx import mainly because it just cannot retard it down that low, you may think you see just greens but does your knocklink work fully to the red? and even then when you get knock it can be that quick you dont catch it.... (mainly in gear about 4-5k rpm)

Imports need 97 ron minimum (early cars) and ob is advisable

Personally I would'nt run any performance car on standard unleaded.

After making contact with some friendly people over in Japland and having them do a little research I can confirm that 100RON was'nt available to JDM until the late nineties, prior to this it was rated at 98RON.

For the earlier classic owners (MY94/MY95) Super would probably be fine, with the addition of OB just for a safeguard.

IMO you're just throwing money away by putting OB in on top of V-Power or Tesco 99 RON with 92-96 WRXs.

My car never saw any OB while it had the OE Ecu on Optimax or now that its mapped for 98+ on the Apexi.
