Default APS CAIK 65mm or 70mm

Supporting Mods: 18g, ported/wrapped headers, 3" decat, pump, NGK7's, 3PBS.

I know the differences are pipe diameter, but what are the "real" differences?

I believe the 70mm is 400bhp+, is there a problem is that is used for 360-370? Or is it not necessary. I wouldn't want to get the 65mm, then later have to change it if the car was to go for the magic four hundred...

(The 70 is £20 more expensive)

From their website, but i need it translating

NOTICE: APS manufactures the APS High Flow Cold Air Intake system in 2 sizes.
  • APSWRX-HFA/01 - 65mm internal bore diameter near the Air Flow Sensor in order to maintain stock Air Flow Sensor operation and to work in harmony with the stock engine management.
  • APSWRX-HFA/02 - 70mm internal bore diameter around the Air Flow Sensor in order to support extreme levels of horsepower without overwhelming the stock Air Flow Sensor. Note that this option requires additional engine tuning.

As you know Gaz Bob Rawle has pointed me to the RCM 80mm induction now that I am not immediately going with the FMIC..........

Spen555 also had a 80mm inlet fabricated prior to his mapping session last week and has achieved impressive results.

Wink

Go for the 80mm (as I've got with 470 mark), allows mapper (mine was Bob) to still have extra voltage at the top end from the MAF sensor single - means scope for more later! I had my Hyperflow cold air induction kit, which was 76mm thin wall alloy pipe, changed at the MAF area for 80mm as that was only place for restriction down to standard 68mm...right on the MAF itself.

PS Mine was a custom made 80mm MAF tube made by those excellent people at Forge Motorsport -decent price also, finished job was mint.
