Question Recomendations please - 125k Oil Change

Hi all,
Could you please recomend which would be the best oil to use on a MY97 scooby turbo? My mechanic mate has always used 0/40 mobil1 for the last 5 years on it but on last change he used 15/50 mobil.
What viscosity and type would you all recomend for a motor thats done 125k.
Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks in advance guys.

Thanks for the response jaytc2003, is that oil a personal choice or was this recomender by someone in the trade?. Im concerned that if my guy uses something too 'thick' there may be problems when it gets really cold outside,
or too thin the motors gona rattle.

Anyone else have any sugestions or is jaytc the only person that is polite enough make a sugeston.

Cheers again.

I believe 10w40 is the recommended grade recommended by subaru. Some people use 10w60 some 0w50 some 15w40. To be honest if you do a search on here you will probably get thousands of posts with people recommending various oils.

If you have an oil temp // pressure gauge you can sort of see how the oil is performing. I dont even use expensive oil, just the halfords semi 10w40 ( I do tend to change oil and filter every 3 months though, not down to oil but just the way I look after my scoob)

Oils on here is a whole can of worms

Cheers m8, looks like i'll go for 10/40 fully synth. Once again thanks for the response.
The amount of replies iv'e had on this only reinforces reasons why i dont really use this forum very much. Maybe i just asked the wrong question.

Cheers again jaytc.
