Newage cars ECU quickly learns.

AFAIK in newage cars you can't reset them like in classics by the old green/black connector route and need the right plug in equipment ?delta monitior or even a PSI monitior thingy-me-bob

i know you have to reset newage by ecutek managment snap etc ...

if i don't do this ,will the ecu realise on it own ,that there is a new maf and adjust accordingly

Not sure about newage but on a classic it's easrier just to disconnect the battery for a little while, this resets the ECU

You should be able to just fit a new maf sensor without resetting the ecu. If your current one is faulty then the ecu will adjust based on the signal from the new one, it will be different and the ecu will adjust things accordingly. It does all this quite quickly.

Whether or not the ecu will move things to optimum settings quicker if you reset the ecu I don't know, but it certainly won't cause any problems fitting it without resetting.

If your old one is ok then you won't notice much difference, as you'd expect. If that's the case then it is probably better not resetting as you will lose all the learning the ecu has done already, and it will just have to relearn it all over again.

Andrew
a you know having problems with my car when i start it in the morning it ticks over at 1500 rpm (as it should when cold) ,as soon as i set off there is no power there at all,and sometimes stalls.when i come to a stop the tickover is at 850rpm (even though car is cold)
when warmed up all is ok, sometimes get a hesitation when i first put my foot down then it's off!

i've changed
plugs
lambda sensor
water temp sensor
just put some injection cleaner in

next thing MAF ?

the car has been on ecotek dionostic and didn't show any faults for the coil packs at that time (whern warm)
but showed a deviation between the lambda and maf, but a lot of people
have said they have never had a problem with the maf on a newage so i changed the lambda then the above.

Ian

If it is anything to go by then my newage sti won't pull you out of bed when cold either, but doesn't stall. It has always been like that. Doesn't take long for revs to drop from fast idle. Ok when warm.

Can't you borrow the maf off your mate's wr1 for a day and rule it out / confirm it is causing the problem ? Sounds like you only need it for half an hour one morning

I'd borrow a MAF and try that

I've got a working Newage MAF on top of the fridge which I could send you to try..........if you promise to send it back
