Default Pulley Information

Hi All

I have just brought a set of light weight pulleys and am planning to fit them tonite. the set includes Crank, Power steering and Alternator puleys.

a coupla questions for you all.

1, Do any of the pulleys have reverse thread?

2, What are the correct torque settings for the pulleys?

None of them have a reverse thread AFAIK.

I found the best way to do them is....

Crank : Put car in 5th gear (6 if 6 speed )
Could get someone else to put foot on brake too.
Use a long Breaker bar or a piece of tube on the Socket Ratchet.

Power Steering : Leave the belt on when removing the OE Pulley.

Alternator : I took it off, then held it in a soft jaw Vice to remove.
Fit the new one the same way, then put back on car.

With regards to torque settings, I don't know...

I just did mine up FT

Take Pickles advice. His PS nut has NEVER fallen off miles from anywhere when he has a car magazine photo shoot the following day.

If this happens, he may advise you that a wheel nut will suffice for a while to hold it back on again!

*he is actually spot on, but i really could not resist*
