Check for leaking underneath. The tanks are like a saddle going over the prop shaft and black in colour. see if it is wet or signs that it has been wet (petrol evaporates very quickly)

Did you have the car remapped after the decat? It could be running rich if you haven't.
I've recently had a decat and even with a remap the car still smells of petrol more than before (even though it isn't running rich because my lambda's fine).
