Default GEMS implant help!

Hi to All!
New member here.
Bought the Bug eye USDM2002 WRX with 70000mi.
GEMS implant, Prodrive 3 port boost solenoid, 3" decat down pipe (divorced Westgate), Prodrive BackBox, sti8 top mount/spray
1Step cooled iridium plugs, fuel pump, oil catch tank and K&N panel filter.
The car running very strong, with 1.2 bar. I need to make some changes. But I curios about authenticity of original Gems program, or somebody already play with it.
GEMS itself very rear management in US. And I don’t know anybody who has this program, or help me with retune.
Overall I'm very happy with how the car feels
What I should do?? Who can help me with the whatever I need to retune my scooby???
Thanks

Hi Msko,

You will be better speaking to GEMS General Engine Management Systems Ltd

and asking if they can either tell you who is a mapper in the USA for their products or send you the software so you can take it to a good tuning company and get them to map if for you.

You shouldnt need it mapping if it ok and not detting, unless you plan to upgrade anything in which case, a map tweek will be needed

HTH

Is it a full stand alone system, or a plug in board?

Read the number on the eprom inside the board, then phone GEMS and tell them what you have. They will be able to confirm it.

You need the correct software for your ecu, cable and dongle as well. that comes to £250 our money.

The maps can be password protected as intellectual property, so if it is; you'll need to either get the original mapper to tweak the map or get a new mapper to create one from scratch.

Default GEMS implant

Hi Dave!
Thanks to any help regarding my problem!!
So, number on the EPROM is << 1.47A/02 X 235 >>
2001-2002 UK WRX Version7 "bug eye"(my car)
I found the original cable with:
Small Round three pins female Plug from one side and serial nine pins female from another.
But what is a Dongle??, and it possible buy this alone?(Everything is to costly for me)
Talk to GEMS over the phone??... Hmm.... I believe, my English too pour
To explain, and even understand technical conversation (sorry to say so)
Thank you Dave for your HELP!!

Do a search for "photobucket", that is what a lot of people use to post pictures on here. You do that by copying the URL to the page and then we can click on the link and look at the picture.

Yes you can buy the dongle alone, and I think you can download the software from the website.

The dongle is a thing you plug into the computer serial port, much like a usb stick. It's like a license, without it you cant access or write to the ecu. It's the expensive bit to buy out of the 3 though.

If I remeber right a while back TSL motorsport were selling a few of these on e-bay titled as being removed from a PP ECU prior to Ecutek re-map. The GEMS implant is a complete new ECU as I have on my bugeye.

Thats an early PPP upgrade, Prodrive used this before they started to remap the factory ecu properly, you can't get the software etc to play with it, only Pro-Drive/Gems have that and its won't be available.

So not the Gems replacement ECU as you thought.

best regards
