Default chattering noise from air filter

hi fitted a aps intercooler, aem cold air induction kit, turbosmart twin port dump vale +exhaust. when at 80mph in 5th or 6th when you let of gas then put foot down again it chatters from filter and ideas. having it mapped now but is doing it in third now. but not losing boost. was thinking putting standard dump v back on or am i better just venting to air???????????

it's your wastegate i think

but i do know that it is perfectly normal!

you say at 80mph. My bugeye with FMIC and induction kit (No Maf fitted), sound like a steam engine between 3 and 4000 revs in any gear. I think you are noticing in 5th & 6th due to the longer period of time at these revs, try accelerating slowly up the rev range and see if you get the same noise. Talked to my mapper about it and decide to fit a 3 port boost valve to see if that helped. The noise is due to Turbo surge which the ECU tries to eliminate by openinig and closing the wastegate to bring the boost down.

being mapped as we speak now and it is doing it more in third now????
was you concerned? dont want to loose any power over this

Not really as in 6th it does it close to 100mph so it is a good reminder to nail the brakes to keep my license. The more annoying noise of the window singing kicked in at about 130mph, might have changed now as it was three years ago on a test track that I tested it. As I am not in that country anymore.

Wastegate chatter, nothing to worry about!!

My cossie and my esprit both did it and now I have an airfiliter on the scoob that does it too!!!!

sit back and enjoy the ride and the extra aural experience!!!!
