Default de-catting

getting my04 WRX fully decatted shortly(up+down pipes). has anyone done this and what should i expect-cel light? any thing else? will be getting a remap but i have to travel 2hrs to get there, will it be ok? been advised to drive off boost to avoid spikes, till i get there.

Cheers

Expect CEL P0420 for removing the cats LOL , there shouldn't be any problems with boost spikes with the WRX but as ever a gentle drive for a couple of hours will get you in the mood for the remap

Have you changed the filter ??

Midlife.....

PS who's doing the remap ?

It will be OK to drive with the CEL light on, because there's no real danger to the engine the ECU will not go into limp home mode. As mentioned boost spikes shouldn't be a problem on the TD04 WRX's. Best not to rag it to death though untill fully mapped. I see you have changed the filter

Powestation will map out the de-cat CEL and will probably raise the rev limiter a shade too as well

Enjoy

Lee

from memory the up-pipe is not much longer than the desk I am sitting at and is bolted at both ends ! The headers have more options for joins!

If you have the time I would think about a set of ported headers from "Harvey" who can do them for about £100 exchange

I originally went for a de-cat up-pipe from Haywood and Scott which was 2.5" but changed to a 3" jobby from Roger Clark Motorsport

If you havn't bought the stuff yet I'd have a lok around SN for sale as they come up from time to time

Cheers

Shaun

codie - I had my MY01 WRX decatted at Powerstation yesterday (up and down pipes), plus a follow up remap (had it mapped there last year). No CEL light from the decat.
