Default standard recirculating dump valve

I know this has probably been asked before but i can't be bothered to search tbh, but i finally got a standard one (froma classic but newer than my '92), anyway it looks huge compared to the pipes currently coming out of inlet pipe etc.i'm sure i can sort this, but which pipe will go to which bit of the valve? i know the one from the manifold goes to the top, but the currently blocked of hole on the inlet, does it go on the side or bottom bit of the dump valve?

The std dump valve has an arrow embossed on it showing the direction of airflow I believe

If yours is the same as mine then the bottom port is the inlet from the intercooler and the side port the outlet back to the intake tract.
