Default Have I damaged a valve

Hi Guys, just taken the timing belt of my engine & the L/H inlet pulley spun anti clockwise, would this have clipped the exhaust valve and caused any damage?

Provided the exhaust valves that side were closed - wont be a problem.
If the exhaust valves were open, the Inlet cam would spin round anticlockwise and stop as the Inlet valves hits the exhaust valves - you wouldnt be able to turn it any further anticlockwise.
Do a Compression Test when the Cam Belt is done - that will show if any Damage has occured.

Thanks Merlin, I think the EX valves would be open as I had lined it all up as instructed, but the inlet pulley rotated freely once it had slipped, so fingers crossed. I've got to take the head off anyway just wondering what I would fined once removed!!??

The same thing happened to me when i changed my cambelt,
if you do not have Subaru special tools (if they do them) you can wedge a piece of wood between the inlet and exhaust cam pulleys to prevent them
from spinning round.

Just a thought, but the cam will always spin so that the valves are closed? (due to the valve springs) So you should be fine....

Yes no problem, when the camshaft spins round, it's because the cam is under tension as at TDC, several valves are already held open, so when it spins round all that happens is they just spring shut....No damage.
