Default cone filter

hi iv got an my96 import sti wagon and iv been getting problems on boost acceleration,where it seems to hit a bad flat spot which it wont go past,iv cleaned boost solenoid,changed plugs,and 4 new coil packs,also changed from forge d/v to standard,but problem still there,its got a k&n cone filter which iv just noticed is burst round where it joins to the maf,iv got standard air box but need to get a panel filter,any help would be great,cheers

Get ride of the cone filter and replace your std air box back on with a green cotton filter. Clean the maf sensor and i bet all will be ok again.

cheers rokay,im just waiting on a panel filter coming hopefully that will be it

hi just an update on this post,changed to standard airbox with green filter,and car is running sweet once again

i was told that the airbox is very restrictive on earlier scoobys dont know if that would be the cause

yeh but i was told by a tuner that they are power restrictive i changed mine to a blitz induction kit and the car seems more responsive and pulls better

my car seems like it is over boosting

the car kicks back when i put my foot down hard

most of the time when i am in the wrong gear eg

doing 60mph in 6gear then put my foot down to the floor
the boost goes to 1.1 bar then kicks back


can u help

They are fine up to around 350bhp. The Blitz filter isn't exactly a filter either....just stops small animals being sucked in! See this:
