Default have i a vf23 or vf28../????

Hi,

Was looking at my turbo after the car came back from a garage (will remain nameless at this point) and i'm sure it says 28 now instead of the 23 that was on it. The stamp where the 3/8 goes is not very clear and made from lots of dots so i'm just checking before i make a phone call. Would the serial numbers give a hint as to what it is?? I'm aslp wandering if the housing i have now is smaller as the steering rack joint was scraping the heatshield before and now its no where near it. Has the 28 got a smaller housing?

numbers:

VF 28 9912
Serial NO. 15 577F
Parts No. 441 1AA291

I stand to be corrected mate, but I think the version 6 had a VF28/VF30 as std. I don't think any came with a VF23, unless you had put one in there that is.....can't see why you'd do that though.

The car used to belong to Peccy and i was led to believe is had been changed to a vf23 hybrid when he had the 2.5 conversion done. Maybe not it would seem....

TBH mate, I'm not sure why the garage would try and swap your turbo; they'd gain next to nothing out of it and risk a bad dent in the reputation if they were caught out.

I think it's more likely that 23 looks a bit like 28, particularly when its in an ackward position and you throw in a bit of grime.
