Noises brakes turbo and 'tappets'
No I'm not confused where the noise it coming from - I've got 3 to ask about.
97 UK spec 113K miles
1) Brakes
The car pulls up straight and stops as well as it always has done, but a cracking noise has developed. It relates purely to pedal pressure and is coming from the nearside caliper. Nothing seems as if it's about to fall off, there are no leaks. It cracks a few times depending how hard the pedal is pressed and does it when rolling or stationary.
2) Turbo
Have a new turbo fitted since yesterday. Can people let me know how the noises change when different spec turbos are used ? I suspect I'm being paranoid, but on my very first run there were a couple of high pitch squeeks. I had to change the previous turbo as the compressor housing had been machined poorly and the turbine touched it - sounded like a banshee, these squeek were a bit like that but have not re occured.
What noises to turbos make when they go wrong ?
3) "Tappets"
I have noise that sound very much like this - especially on the drivers side of the engine - do the valve clearances need adjusting ? Can this be done with the enne in ?
Phew
Thanks if you made it this far

1) could the pads be sticking in the caliper and then moving when you apply the brakes?
2) heat shield moving??
3) tappets are hydrolic so cannot be adjusted.. what oil are you using?
my old engine used to tick away until I changed to Motul 15W50 300v at about 100k.
