Default engine problems........

my mate was comeing home from work today, he went over a speed bump then the car wouldn't run for ****. it was spluttering like mad and wouldn't go above 3000 RPM. he took it to the garage and the boy said it would be spark plugs or coil packs. anyone any ideas??

what year of car? possible disconnected maf or loose hose somewhere, unlikely to be plugs

its a 93 K

oh and the heatshield rattles like mad!!

sounds like a hose on the bottom of the intercooler has come loose causing an air leak

my mate just tryed to put it on ramps to see if a hose was loose, but it wont start now???

as said check all hoses, no ramps needed for that. What speed did he take the bump

i wouldn't think anymore that 5mph, its quite low!

most if not all hoses can be inspected//checked from the top. The intercooler one that was mentioned by scooby-tc is a good place to check. Check the pipe to the turbo, the dump valve, maybe remove the heatshield and check the downpipe bolts as well.

it was the fuel pump that was goosed!

Well, when it gets replaced, take the time to remove the rear seats so you can get the pump properly lined up. If you don't then you risk the seal being out of position and having a petrol smell whenever you stop.
