Default Engine warning light

2002 5 door WRX FSH with Prodrive performance pack. Can anyone help? The yellow engine warning light comes and stays on. This has happend on half a dozen occasions. It happens when in fourth gear as I accelerate from 60 to 90mph. I am told by my Subaru dealership that it is caused by a miss fire, in the past they just reset the the system that monitors the engine. The last time it happened they replaced the spark plugs. Guess what, it happened again Can anyone help.

just had a similar problem, think the fuel pump is suspect as also reading a "running lean" fault.

Andrew

When the Check Engine Light (yellow light) comes on The ECU which is under the passenger footwell stores a code which can be read by the Subaru Dealer.

The kit they use is called a "select monitor" which they plug into the car just under the steering wheel

Often called the OBD port (On Board Diagnostics Port) ..

Just ask the dealer what the code stands for and take it from there !!..... The bugeye MY02 ECU often throws a wobbly and my wild stab in the dark would be the camshaft position sensor which is prone to doing this

Hope this helps

Shaun
