New car knackered!!!!
I recently bought a 2000 wrx uk wagon from TRG dealership in Houghton Sunderland. Had the car for 4 weeks/1000miles and both cylinder heads went, timing belt, water pump, thermostat etc. etc. When I returned to the garage they told me to basically go away!!!! After some legal pressure I got £1000 towards the £1600 bill! Still left feeling robbed although the car is a belter now. Just be warned about buying from people who havent got a clue what their talking about.
All work was done by AS Performance in Birtley, County Durham, and I couldnt praise them enough. They really do know what their talking about.

if it was me they'd have been over a barrel, you should have had 3month warrenty on it. anything going wrong in that time, unless they can proove missuse (which is extremly difficult), they should have picked up full bill and sorted curtesy car out while repairs being done.

Trust me
Trust me, I had him over a barrel. My girlfriend had to pull me off.
As for a courtesy car they told me to go and jump. As I say, tried everything inc trading standards, solicitors etc. All sorted now, just dont buy from TRG dealerships. They should stick to sierras.

eh????
sounds like trading standards got it wrong there, just beacuse its all ok when you bought it, doesn't mean that down the line your on your own.
if warrenty period is still in force the responsability is on the garage, they have to set any additional requirements to make sure warrenty stays intaced, like for example yearly service etc on new cars.
i bought a brand new car a while back and was getting issues with it, nothing major just small niggles. after 18 months and prob 30+ visits to dealer i spoke to trading standards, they told me had i gone bak within the first 6 months i could have demaned a replacement car rather than just continualy repairs due to it. but anyway thats by the by.
trading standards have a specialist unit for cars, might be worth trying to get in touch with that department and seeing what they say, may say you need to get more money back, you never know.

to be honest with what you have said, I dont see what TRG have done wrong. If they had sold the car with a warranty then yes, but if they didnt then they aren't to know in 1k miles its gonna fail big style. Funny as it seems, but brand new cars can and do fail as well.
I think you have done well tbh to get a grand off them.

btw Head gasket failure shouldn't cause water pump failure so it sounds like the water pump went and then this would caused the gasket problem. You werent losing coolant were you and just topping up with water on its own?
