MAF Sensor required, pricing confussion
Hi,
I was recently told by Subaru (Montys of Sheffield) that my MAF Sensor had gone and that I need a new one. They said the Part was £70 and total cost including labour was £170.
A few people on here said "£100 for fitting a MAF sensor was too much, get the part myself and fit it."
However I have had a few quotes, and all have been £100+
Scoobyclinic £100+VAT + £8.99
GradeA £120+VAT (unknown p&p) (new)
GradeA £80+VAT (unknown p&p) (used)
What should I do? Is there a perfectly good reason why its actually cheaper to goto the dealer on this occassion?
Thanks.

Ni idea. I'd say get the part from the dealer, then fit it yourself. You can change it with a screwdriver and a spanner (10mm IIRC). It's 10 minutes work tops.

Is your car an MY99/00?
If so its part no 22794AA010 and usually about £70~£75 from your dealer.
It takes 2 minutes to fit using a T20 secure torx bit to remove the 2 torx scfrews holding it in place.

as above..............some bizarre pricing from those dealers.............
carry in stock and would normally charge less than £100 fitted...............
if its an earler or later model then those prices would also appear to be incorrect??

Thanks for all your help everyone.
Someone contacted me via PM for £65+VAT brandnew!!!!! shipped and received at 9.30 next day!!!! and fitted by dinner time. Car runs like a dream again.
Took 1 hour 20 mins to find a shop selling Securiy Torx and about 3 mins to unscrew and repalce sensor, and 1 minute to reset ECU. Can I offically call myself a mechanic now? Those cowboys are Subaru do
Thanks again all for help.
Paul.
