The only sensible way to do the conversion is to try to buy an insurance write off or damaged WRX and use all the required parts - Engine, box, loom ecu ETC
Much easier to sell your car and buy a real one IMO

but when you upgrade the GX, you will then need to do the brakes and everything else anyway so starting off with that makes sense.
It will be cheaper in the long run.
Parts you will need, complete engine, turbo, ecu, loom, clutch, (possibly gearbox and then diffs), brakes, probably suspension, exhaust, boost solenoid, fueli system and components etc, and more importantly deep pockets and a lot of time where the car will be off the road.
Oh and it will probably be cheaper insuring a standard wrx than a highly modded gx

costs? depends on where you get the parts from and in what condition. Parts alone I would say a minimum of 4k (assuming parts from a breakers), labour nothing if you do it yourself, or a few k if a garage does it.
