HI,

With my car being a 1993 wrx import does anyone know if my turbo is a td04 or a td05.

Thanks all

I believe all the saloons had td05 turbos up to and including 96, and the wagons has td04s.

td05 is a fair bit bigger. In standard trim the td04 is actually better in my opinion because it's more responsive. The td05 is more tunable.

TD04 can't shift as much air as the TD05, you'd need it remapped (more expensive than actually replacing it with another TD05!!)

Nick.

not looked that far ahead as yet, just been offered the td04, dont want to be remapping, just need to get rolling again, looks like it seized, prop wont spin, started billowing smoke out of exhaust friday night!! Will look into repair too i guess. I am guessing its a td05 i have a wrx 1995 import.

mine was running a standard ecu on a smaller turbo without any problems. I have a my93 which should have the tdo5, but was found to have a replacment from a scrappy. didnt cause me any problems (apart from when I had the power fc fitted and we couldnt get it to hold boost)

Still makes for a very nippy car

thanks for all of your help so far, I'll weigh up the options before rushing I think, may have a cheap td05 in the pipeline too.

Fingers crossed this solves it and no other damage has been done!
