Default Name That Chip?????

Hi all!

I just bought another ecu today!
it is (according to case)
V5
numbers 22611 AB530
A18-000 RJ4 3x12

It has a piggy back chip inside with a cable and switch coming from the J1 to switch between maps! (runs 1.2bar apparently).

The ecu was sealed with (CAR STATION) stickers.

Does anyone know what ecu the V5 is (jap or uk) (year)?

Ever heard of CAR STATION? any good? is it mappable?

Any info is greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers Guys
Mark.
ps it'll be going on a '93 wrx.

A V5 is from a WRX Wagon, maybe even an Auto (not 100% sure).

Post some piccies as I recall seing an ECU with something like car station red/white labels on them. But the map that came with it was really bad and was set with target boot beyond the limits of a standard map sensor.

The V5 is from A; B & C-Series automatic GC8s and from A & B-Series automatic GF8s (C-Series 'Wagons used the 4B). Automatic WRX Saloons and 'Wagons share the same TD04-equipped engine (A; B & C-Series).

edited to correct the glaring ommision

cheers guys! (for some reason scoobynet only works occasionally on my pc????) - so sorry if slow getting back!

will get some pics up soon,

yeah it has got the red/white labels on the side,

is there a difference between auto and manual ecu's?

would it run ok on a '93 with a tdo5?

also can you remember if they are mappable?

thanks again
much appreciated

Mark.

if its got a chip inside all you need to do is find someone with a chip reader and skill to map ive got a wagon ecu in my salon but had it mapped for my car and mods it was a very easy cheap way to have mine mapped as the ecu cost me £20

been thinking of giving this ecu a go soon! but spoke to the lad I bought it off the other day and he said that it runs 1.4 not 1.2 bar !!!

(he says I missheard him)

basically could I run this with a boost controller/bleed valve to lower the boost pressure? 1.1 - 1.2?

or is there anyone in the mid/north wales area that could map it for me? cheaply of course

what you guys think?

I don't see how it will run 1.4bar when the map sensor under the bonnet (which the ECU reads in order to control the boost) max's out at 1.2bar.
Unless the car it came off had an alternative map sensor and was rescaled accordingly OR it had a fuel cut defender fitted and used an electronic or mechanical boost controller.
