Import Vs UK Spec STi
Hi
I've read that the import model STi from Japan/USA is a more advanced car compared to the UK spec car - esp around the engine.
Saw mention of bigger inlet valves and different cams to the UK spec.
Is this true or is someone telling porkies?
If it is true - what other advantages are there in the Import car compared to the UK car?

Mechanically the Japanese STI is much improved over the UK cars engine and chassis setup featuring:
- Revised Engine internals
- Equal Length exhaust Manifold
- Twin Scroll Turbo
- Revised ECU
- Different inlet Cam
- Revised exhaust
- HID Drivers headlights
- Automatic intercooler water spray button
- Sports ABS
- Front mounted water spray bottle
- Red backlit dials
- Additional card holder
- Tyre width up from UK’s 225/45 17” to 235/45 17”
- Improved Steering speed and feel
- Rear windscreen wiper
- The Japanese STI and Spec C also features Front
- Revised centre diff control unit with additional sensors
- New larger intercooler design
But you're statement says they're the same?

Is the warranty on Scoobs gobal or by region?
i.e. If I was to get a JDM import rather then a Euro Import and it required a recall or something broke within 3 years, could I take it to a Scoob dealer and get them to fix it or would I be told to take a running jump?

Go import unless you're planning on modding it when you could get away with a lower base model If you did have a problem with an import most tuners would help, LPS, Mocom, PS, Scoobyclinic, RCMS, WRC, Zen etc.

Here's the rub
Import JDM cost's £27k (Link)
Import Euro costs £21.5k (Link)
I could add a PPP to the Euro STi and get circa 320 horses and costs £1,500 ... ish. Totalling £23k (cheaper if I do the spannerwork myself)
And the Euro STi should be covered by Euro Warranty so fixable anywhere.
What makes the JDM £4k better?

Hi
Been doing more research and the Spec C seems to have lots of bits on it I would add after.
e.g.
Quicker rack (standard JDM)
Transmission cooler
Oil cooler
120Kg lighter
Firmer bushes (standard JDM)
Stronger pistons and engine internals (standard JDM)
.....and more
Also got more info on the engines and the 2.5 is relatively new (and therefore not 100% proven over time) where the JDM is the latest version of the 2.0 that's been tweeked and modified for the last 15 odd years
