i was flicking through an old copy of max power the other day, through the "max 100 top cars" bla bla, and came across a few details on import wrxs, which is what ive got (95 model). it claims they only run 215bhp... surely not!!! i thought it was nearer 240 for an import. according to the last owner my car is running at 280 lol so somethings wrong here...
anyone able to clear that up for me... one of those niggling questions
cheers people

would that be for mine aswell, i think its got a slightly older engine than the body... a 93/94 engine on a 95 car. supposedly two subaru technicians did a little test on it when running (not rolling roads) and claimed a general power of 280bhp. ive not been driving lond enough to guess what im running at.
256 ok then for a scoob?

so my ar would hit 280 if it was just set up on a higher boost pressure or would it have to have had extra upgrades to other components. ive never had anyone check it out sice buying it. all i know is that it is really fast off the line... well to me anyway.
Take it easy for a while, get used to it as it is before you start chasing particular power figures. IMHO of course.
But if it's currently in the mid 200's, reaching 280 isn't that tricky. A good serviciing, a bigger exhaust and a sports cat plus a remap with something like an Apexi Power FC would do it and you could get away without any other supporting mods really.

So you can decat til your hearts content

I used to run a MY95 WRX, gone through all this before.
The imports are not an exact match on the DOT register, so don't have to do the cat test (only for pre Sep 95).
Worked for me, unless this 'loophole' has been closed then decat all you like.

i think my cars got a 93 engine in a 95 car so im not sure how to go about until i have it checked. il go to my local exhaust place "rebel powerpipes" have a good reputation and see what they can do within the law.
my 93 wrx has a hks ssqbv. a pipercross induction kit a ss exhaust from manifold to back how much will that afect the bhp as i blew my mates mr2 turbo away
also it was imported last year from japan acording to the docs
