Default VF24 OR TD05 16G????

Wich would be better for my 98 impreza GT.

I have the Apexi SAFCII and will get WAlbro 255.
K&N, and DECAT exhaust.

I want more and less 300 HPs.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

VF24 will give 300-320BHP depending on mods an mapped boost.
I get 310-320BHP at 1.3bar.

14psi is not enough to achieve that, thats just under 1 bar....youd need to be running at least 1.25 to get 310 id say....but, every spec is different!

I chose the VF24 for a TD04 replacement.

spools up a little later than the TD04 at about 3k with full boost kicking it at 3.5k, very pleased overall, would have gone for TD04 hybrid if I could afford it.

Have you got the headers ported mate, that'll bring the spool threshold down lower. Maybe as much as 500rpm.

not meaning to be funny or anything but this guy is modding his car from a distance, he comes from Peru so getting a set of harveys headers and turbo choice is possibly going to be more difficult for him to sort out

1bar make 310bhp mapped on PFC, depends on rolling road though obviously. (edit to add car had HKS headers, induction, decat iirc)

I presume you are on the grey 380cc injectors still?

you will run out of injector duty around 1.1~1.2bar on a TD05 16g unless you run it leaner than you should.

I would aim for 1bar and you shouldn't be far off your target.. going much over 1bar will cause you problems using the SAFC as it doesn't correct the timing.

If it is not already I would be tweaking with wideband and detcans etc?

Simon

Yes it is a litle dificult and expensive to get some pieces like a new header for the GT. For example, here in Peru we dont have a Dyno for AWD cars. That is a big problem for impreza and Evo tunners.

I am still with the gray ones Injectors. So, maybe i will take the VF24 option and the walbro & FPRegulator. Golly Green, you are right, the SAFCII doesn t control the timing, so it would be dangerous to try to get more than 300 HPs. i think that VF24 or TD05 would be similar options in order to get 300 HPs or not?

the VF24 is bolt on and the td0516g would be an adaptation. So, i am thinking also in the risks.

Thanks for your posts. It is a great help for me.

Your 380 cc injectors will max out shortly past 300 bhp on standard fuel pressure.
The TD05 is more robust but the VF 24 IS a nice turbo and probably available for less money than the popular TD05, certainly in the UK.
With the right supporting mods they will both run 350 bhp
Unless your fuel pump is tired the O/E is good for your power aspirations.
