Default APS Top Mount Question

Does anybody out there know if the APS TMIC can be used if you have an STI strut brace in place??

Just need to know for future reference.

TIA.

I assume that the pic you've provided is the APS TMIC but with the WRC Tech logo on it instead?

to be honest i would stay clear of the big top mounts and go for a fmic, they suffer really badly from heat soak and seemed to take an age to cool ( well did on my 02wrx) I now have a aps fmic and its perfect

would like to see what the pros have to say about it as i ve heard a few well respected mappers say theres not a big difference between the STI intercooler and the aps ( but then again they didn't sell them )

The TMIC in the picture is a WRC unit as they were having supply difficulties with APS, so got there own made for a short while.

Heatsoak......unless you are stuck in traffic for a lng time I wouldnt worry, they cool very quickly when cruising as you hould have an intercooler splitter and rubber seal fitted as standard.

If you are stuck in traffic, do you launch from the lights? If not heatsoak shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I don't want to go down the FMIC route unless I have to simply because of the piping involved and the possibility of lost boost through the length of the piping involved (maybe I'm talking **** on that last part though) plus the added weight puts me off.

Thanks mate. That seem to have answered my question. I've also PM'd him just see if there are any further issues regarding the APS TMIC.

This has now gone out the window.

Contacted WRC Technologies about this as I was gonna order it from them and they've told me that the APS TMIC is not suitable for an MY06 STI due to the 'fly-by-wire' stuff on this MY.

Ah well.

APS have developed a new TMIC for the US spec STi due to the issues with the 06's FBW throttle.....this is specifically for the 'drive by wire' cars:

OMG have you told subaru about this as im sure they will stop making there design there is nothing wrong with a tmic, i myself have chosen a hyperflow tmic which is bigger and better than the stock STI 8 intercoolers, to be honest i am about to change to a garret gt30R and im still trying to see if i can get my car mapped with the tmic in place

Will do mate. Sent that link you provided me with onto WRC so I'm just waiting with them to come back with a price for me.

KJDMK1 - just out of interest, what part of S Wales are you based in?

I'm in Aberdare.
